Lok swar is women headed organization & its core work revolves around gender equality with focus on eradicating gender based violence against women & girls, Promoting positive social norms & promotion of sexual & reproductive health rights ( SRHR) among adolescent boys, girls, youths, men & women.

DIRECT INTERVENTION IN VILLAGES
LOK SWAR is working directly with more than 45 villages in West RAMGARGH, Hazaribag, khunti simdega , and Slums of Ranchi. We are organizing community, promoting CBOs in various forms like Gram Sabha, SHGs, Kisan Clubs, Farmers Clubs, social leaders groups, promoting anti trafficking units at village & Panchyat level etc. Simultaneously, we are also giving strategic focus on employment generation skill development trainings, conservation & development of water resources available at village label, Promotion of SRI of paddy cultivation, vegetable cultivation, linkages with government schemes like Indira Awas Yojana, MGNREGA, Antyodaya, Annapurna, Mid day meal, Old aged pension etc are the major focus of our direct intervention. Besides various issue based training and seminars are the regular features for community empowerment in our programmers.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT/RIGHTS
Lok Swar was initiated to address the women issues, and it took approach of empowering women to make them able to fight for themselves. Even after six decades of independence and efforts, women still are deprived of the right to live and practice dignified life especially in most parts of the Bihar and Jharkhand. Our approach with women empowerment is building their capacities and social capital through building Self Help Groups (SHGs) and give them a platform and channel for rest development programmes.
We understand that the empowerment comes with information, knowledge, skill and confidence. Thus our efforts are focused on making the target groups including, women, youth and socially marginalized community aware about their rights and entitlements, provide them training on skill up-gradation, vocational trades, literacy as well as propagate primary and secondary level education, counselling and advocacy for violence against women including domestic violence.
CHILD EMPOWERMENT RIGHTS
Slums where poverty dwells illiteracy is very common factor, lack of consciousness towards literacy make childhood suffer most, as they are deprived of their right to education. Gauging the need the organization is providing non formal education to the children basically, orphan, rag pickers, children from broken families, drug addicted, and abused children in Khel –KhelMein. Our infrastructure facility, established as our Organization’s centres at Ranchi are known as Khel Ghar ( Play Home) Our aim through these centres is to make the deprived children literate and educate, without putting any pressure to keep their interest and regularity to attend the sessions.
SEXUAL & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH RIGHTS (SRHR)
Awareness generation regarding reproductive health of rural/urban women & adolescent girls, organizing free health checkups camps, free distribution of medicines has been one of the major activities in health thematic area of LOK SWAR. These activities are being carried on by volunteers of LOK SWAR who are doctors & medical representatives. Organization take help of noble & like minded people who work voluntarily for social cause by organizing health & awareness camps thrice in a year.
Intervention with youth groups
In present time, in this thematic area, organization is intervening with 1600 direct beneficiaries (male/female youths) by forming male & female youth groups with 20 participants in each group. Male adolescent group, female adolescent group, Male youth group & female youth groups in 20 villages scattered in 2 panchyats of Khunti district, khunti block Jharkhand. Youth are the one who can be turn up as a change maker. In present time lok swar is intervening with youths on the issue of Gender based violence (GBV) against women & girls & promotion of SRHR. Regular Interaction with youth groups through monthly meetings, workshops for delivery of learning’s/knowledge through pre designed curriculums, sessions, I.E.C materials, is some of activities under this thematic area.
Innovative mediums, such as drama, cultural songs, sports, organizing youth festivals, exposure visits etc are few ways, of engagement through which we interact with them in order to organize youth & adolescent groups around the issue
Intervention with Female sex workers (FSW)
Lok swar is working with 720 identified Female sex workers (Hidden/Flying nature) of Khunti & simdega district. Work nature consisted of breaking stereotypes thinking & mentality of people against FSWs. Promoting practices of safe sex & sexual rights, regular health check-ups, and promotion of safe delivery, reproduction & health rights.
Organization has also initiated to establish school for the children of sex workers, through its own effort. In present time these children has been main streamed in government’s formal education system
ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Sensitizing rural/urban population on bio medical & municipal waste management along with awareness of school students encouraging them for plantation & saving water by forming environment conservation clubs are the major activity of LOK SWAR under this thematic area
AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Organizing farmers at one platform by forming farmers club in target villages & making them aware with new agricultural information such as SRI technique of paddy cultivation, low input high yield sustainable crops cultivation, development of kitchen garden, soil testing, conservation & development of indigenous seeds bank etc are activities of organization under agricultural development them.
STRENGTHENING PRI’s, KARIGAR PANCHYATS & WATER SHADE DEVELOPMENTS
Strengthen PRI’S about their rights/roles & responsibilities, awareness generation to rural mass specially farmer community regarding water shade development & collectivization of karigars through fostering craft development initiative program of lok swar is one among the most important activity of the organization. Might it be ay project/activity for rural area, lok swar always spread awareness regarding above mentioned topics, which is self designed program of lok swar.
EMPLOYMENT GENERATION THROUGH SKILL DEVELOPMENT/VOCATIONAL TRAININGS
Lok swar had been involved in skill development of rural/urban youths specially women community through different vocational trainings in different trades till date. Under this thematic activity, organization provides vocational trainings to needy peoples & help them get placed in any other institution or start their own small petty business.
